"The new Honda 8HP and 9.9HP four stroke outboard motors are identical in all published mechanical specifications; the only difference being in stated HP. I know the conversion from 8 HP to 9.9 HP can be done for about $65, but I don't know how to do it. Does anyone out there know? I would guess either the carburetor jets have to be changed or there is a restrictor plate on the 8 HP that has to be changed (or maybe just removed). Any input will be greatly appreciated."
