"guys,i can not get my lower g

"guys,i can not get my lower gear unit back on.it is a alpha-1 unit.i have followed the manual.the unit is in up position,in forward gear,shift shaft is in clockwise position.i turn the prop as we try to line it up,also im holding a little back pressure on prop as we go in.it seems like the splines are not lining up.need help.thanks."

Ayuh,...
Wrap a bungee cord around the shaft,+ up to the Cav plate to hold pressure on it,...
That'll give you 1 more hand to shake, wiggle,+ push with..."
