Remote conversion 98 4stroke

"I plan on installing a remote control on my new 9.8hp 4 stroke Tohatsu using the engine controls on my Lewmar/Whitlock steering pedestal. I would like to use them vs a stock Tohatsu remote box.

So, I have a couple of questions for the group:

1)Can I use the Lewmar/Whitlock engine control on my steering pedestal with or might there be a throw/travel problem?
2)Can I remove the steering handle after installation?
3) What is the best method to hook up a remote ignition switch? Can I purchase a harness?
