"Hi guys- I stumbled upon this
"Hi guys- I stumbled upon this site and it seems like a wealth of knowledge, so I figured I would give it a shot. m I am having a problem with my 2001 Honda BF50 engine.
It idles somewhat rough, but not too bad for an older engine with alot of hours on it.
The real problem that I am having is that when I throttle up too fast it stalls out, or when I try to power the boat onto the trailer it stalls out too. It seems to have a dead spot at about 2500-300 RPM, and I have to verrryyyyy sloowwwly throttle up through that RPM range or else the engine sputters out and stalls.
The carbs were just recently cleaned out, but I am not sure if they need to be adjusted or something? Any advice would really be great because I am not satisfied witht he engines performance at all. I just got the boat about a month ago.
Also, it does not have this problem when the boat is not in gear. I have revved it up while flushing the engine and it does not stall out like this. Any ideas??"
