"when boat is not used for three weeks the battery goes dead. if you take the cables off the battery to the engine sparks fly. after playing with the wireing in the engine, if you dissconect the big red wire to the voltage regulator sparks no longer fly. what would be causing the voltage draw to the voltage regulator when the engine isn't runing? i already replaced the regulator with no luck. thanks"

"Disconnect the cable from one

"Disconnect the cable from one battery pole. Use multimeter and find out how many (milli-)amperes drain you have (connect a multimeter between the cable and the battery pole). While still reading, disconnect (undo the cables) on suspicious parts (e.g. the ignition switch). Also, look for salt on components. When you find the the right place, the drain stops. Somebody else might know which parts to start with.
good luck
