Opinions… Are these engines fairly easy to work on, and are parts readily accessible around the world?
Lastly, if you were planning an oceanic voyage, what extra/spare parts would you bring?"
 
"dda 6-71 are very good units,

"dda 6-71 are very good units, and have been around sence ww2.units are easy to work on ,out side valve covers.under covers you need to know what you are doing.lots of parts around the world, however keep in mind the engine is no longer built.spare parts, raw water pump, injectors, rocker arms,fuel pump,o/h gasket set,blower drive and coupling."

That engine was in busses and trucks by the tens of thousands. Out of production but parts should be everywhere.
