I have a 1978 merc 9.8 (mo

I have a 1978 merc 9.8 (model 110). The old impeller seems to be stuck on the shaft and I'm not sure how to remove it. Does anyone have any advice?

If this is a salt water motor

If this is a salt water motor you could be in for some fun.
If spraying some oil like WD40 and letting it sit a day doesn't free it then you may need a dremel tool to cut a thin line in the impeller bushing.
This would make it so you could spread the bushing and lift it off.
If you do need to cut it be very careful not to hit the drive shaft or the alignment / drive pin for the impeller.

"cut off the rubber to find the thickness of the brass liner, i think about 1/8 inch. then get a drill bit the same size and drill down into brass. it amazing how much bend you can get in a drill bit"
