I have a 1971 Evinrude Lightwi

I have a 1971 Evinrude Lightwin Model 4106D 4HP
outboard. I have no spark and would like to test the coils. How do I do this?

"the first thing to do is visually inspect the coils--if the casing is cracked or erupted at all, replace them--make sure your sparkplug wires are new--a "leak" in a spark plug wire will short your spark to ground but this event is not visable in daylight--it is possible to see this happen in the dark but its a bit risky--dont overlook the points and condensers--the coils are usually the last thing to replace--starting at the spark plugs and working backwards, make sure everything is in good working order--"
