HAVE A 79 CHRYSLER HYDRO-VEE W

HAVE A 79 CHRYSLER HYDRO-VEE WITH AN EVINRUDE 85 OUTBOARD. THE STEERING CABLES ARE DRY MAKING IT HARD TO TURN THE WHEEL. CAN THEY BE GREASED OR LUBED TO IMPROVE STEERING?

Dry cables - those with old boats will identify with this problem. If their seized try running a blow torch over the cable (best to take it out of the boat - flame and fuel vapour dont mix well!!) - just stiff then try diesel down the ends and try to hang it up to let gravity take its course. If that fails probably time for a new cable.
