"I have 2 1977 Johnson seahorse 35 HP mdl#'s 35EL77C & 35EL77H, I just bought the 35EL77H. It runs strong, but when it was tested in the tank. The water that sprays out from below the powerhead would flow good at first. Then stops after a minute or two. Same when I run it at idle speed with the flushing tool. Is this a sign that the water pump is going bad? I also noticed that there is no black box type thing on carbourator like the one on the 35EL77C. Does the carbourator need to have this. Is this the backfire flame arrestor? I am think of using the lower unit from the 35EL77H on the 35EL77C. Should I just rebuild the water pump while it is off????
