"Does anyone know which other models, years, and HP lower units would work with a 1977 Johnson Seahorse, 35HP, model# 35EL77C? I have a broken prop shaft. Dont know if it would be easier to find a rebuilt lower unit or replace the shaft. Will the 25HP lower unit work with a 35HP? Any help would be appreciated."

"That assembly (0388117) was used in 1977 only, 25hp and 35hp. That doesn't mean the innards from other years won't fit. The propshaft (0386418) was used on 25, 35hp, '77 through '82."
