new boater needs a bit of help

new boater needs a bit of help . after an extensive rebuild on a 14 ft that was totaly ruined . we are finally ready to put the motor on and launch . the only thing is we don't know the correct fuel mixture . it's a 1961 evinrude 40 hp . it would be apreciated if i could get the mixture for todays oils as i'm sure they are different from '61 oils .

Old days was 25:1 Now it is safe for 50:1 with the new oil. Old days was just sae 30 motor oil.

But you had better ask a expert first.

"Your 1961 40hp model powerhead consists off all roller, needle, and ball bearings on main bearings, con/rods, and wrist pins. As such, and as the above post, the fuel/oil mixture is 50/1 (1pt of 50/1 TCW-III oil to 6 gal gas). 87 octane will be fine."
