" I have a Crusader 454 (raw water cooled) that tends to run cold when the lake water cools off. I have a twin engine boat on Lake Texhoma (1986 Carver 42 aft cabin, been on this fresh water lake since new).
The starboard engine (reverse rotation) tends to run cold.
I have changed the thermo, even exchanged the thermo housings (including temp indicators) from one engine to the other and the problem did not move. The cylinder pressures are about the same on both engines, checked the timing and ok, belts, raw water pump, and on and on.
Engine hours are about 600 and both look like new.
The water heater is not connected to either engine. I even move the temp wiring and the problem did follow as expected. You can run the engines 2500 and above for awhile (30min up) and the temp will come up to almost normal, but cut power and the starboard temps fall while the port stays up.
Any ideas would be appreciated.
Many Thanks, Richard "
