The only Sears models made in Japan that I'm aware of were built by Tanaka although they did not use the 204 prefix that you note in your model number - in fact, I don't show any Sears models with a 204 prefix.

Tanaka built 3 or 4 different models for Sears in the mid/late 80's. They (Tanaka) are still very much in business and parts are readily available along with a number of free manuals etc. Just do a websearch for Tanaka, they have a decent website with all the links you could want.

Tanaka also built some motors for Eska which were sold through Sears under the model (or brand) name "Superbug".

These are the only Japanese built motors that Sears sold according to my records which are quite extensive..."
