question marintte owners on a

question marintte owners on a 37 aft cabin i have installed new edelbrock 1409 carbs on 360 chrysler when you run the engine for a short time or long period of time and shut them off a gas smell rises up through the salon floor where the engine hatches are. i can not find any fuel leaks anywhere after a while the smell goes away is this normal on this type of boat or have i missed something
 
i had a simmilar problem in a

i had a simmilar problem in a 1970 36ft trojan with twin 350s.. it was the fuel pumps.. they wouldnt appear to be leaking while it was running but after the engine was shutoff they would both seep fuel.

thanks for info iwill check them but the fumes appear to be up higher towards flame arresters thanks
 
"Look for a gasket leak around

"Look for a gasket leak around the top, especially in the back. Carbs tend to tilt backwards on plane, which can allow fuel leakage IF the gasket isn't perfect. If there's a leak, you should see a light colored stain down the back of the bowl.
