Problem reinstalling gear case on Tohatsu 4hp 4strk

I can't get the gea

"Hi,
I can't get the gear case all the way up on my 2001 Tohatsu longshaft 4hp 4 stroke. I can get it up most of the way, then the top of the drive shaft strikes the gear shift linkage up on top with a click I can feel with my hand on the lever. The cam rod joint clamp bolt is loose. Any advice will be appreciated.

There is no trick to this. You

There is no trick to this. You just have to keep trying until you get the drive shaft and shift rod lined up.
