Lower unit seals 1948 evinrude

"I have a 1948-51 Evinrude 1.5

"I have a 1948-51 Evinrude 1.5 hp outboard. The motor is in great shape, but I have water in my lower unit. Aside from checking the gear oil everyday, is there a way to rejuvinate the old seals, or to make a seal, or anything that might work. Finding the original seals will be next to impossable. Thanks"

"i would think,..that u may be able to match it up,w/a newer style seal...take it to an outboard shop,and see if they can look in thier box of goodies for them,worth a shot."
