"I have right and left hand rotation 426's that have 290 on the valve covers. Are these wedge motors? Is 290 the horsepower rating and if so, how do they compare to auto engines? Thanks"

"Yes and yes. Lower compression, mild camshafts and--if you're lucky--they use "peanut plugs" (10 mm thread) that were developed for RVs.
