The surveyor that inspected my boat said he thought that my fuel pump wasn't a marine one because it did not have the line running from the pump to the carb in case of internal fuel pump leaks. I bought a new marine fuel pump only to find that it didn't have a fitting for the line it was plugged. Upon investigation the pump that is on the engine has the same thing. Should I add this line to the carb or is it ok the way it is. I have a BB Chevy V8 280 HP Crusader.
Thanks.

"Brian:

Are you talking about the vent line being plugged as there was no fitting for the line on the pump?

I'd be inclined to trust the surveyor unless the source for the fuel pump you purchased can provide written compliance to the federal regulations. See page 28 on this link to the USCG's site:

Also, if the fuel pump is legit, I'd remove the existing tubing and plug the fitting at the carb. If it an OEM Q-jet, you should be able to unscrew the hose barb and replace it with a pipe plug."
