Replacing a 2003T sail drive with a D240 engine

Anyone have any experience in

Anyone have any experience in replacing a Volvo Penta 2003T sail drive originally fitted in a Challenger 39 yacht. I'm thinking of using a D2-40 or D2-55 sail drive replacement engine.

My major concern is that the D2-40 or D2-55 will not fit in the existing engine mountings.
 
A friend of mine is installing

A friend of mine is installing a D240 in a 35 ft Niagara sailboat. You have to cut out the old bed (likely) and buy a new engine mounting bed from Volvo. I think you need a diamond cutting blade on an angle grinder.
