"I'm a pretty good mechanic but have very little experience working on outboards. My 35 hp Mercury quit running. I sensed it was electrical. I tested and found no spark on either plug. My question: Is it possible for me to purchase the equipment and gain the knowledge necessary to fix this motor? Is the equipment and knowledge readily available? I can find the coils, the switchboxes, the stator, the trigger, and all the other electrical components if I knew what to do and how to do it.

Thanks,
Robert Walker"

"everything can be tested exce

"everything can be tested except the switchbox withan ohm meter. you can find the specs here
http://cdielectronics.com/Downloads/tabid/55/language/en-US/Default.aspx

first step is to remove the black/yellow wire on the switch box, it grounds the ign, by removing it the key and wiring on the boat are deleted. Also follow that around to the left side, make sure the tilt(mercury switch is disconected. Its a 1 inch round tube screwed to the exhaust plate."
