"The steering has benn getting worst and worst, very hard to turn wheel sometimes. Lubed linkages and helped a little but now I'm back as before.
Yesterday when checking it out it seems that the binding and noise is located at the motor where the steering cable goes in. I want to disconect the cable there to isolate the problem to either the motor itself or cable or bezel or the helm.
Question:
How to disconect cable at motor (never change a cable before).

Also any feedback on changing to a rotary steering system."

"Ok, took it apart, the tilt tube grease was old and the tube had some corrosion. The motor turns fine disconnected, but the steering is still somewhat tight at the helm. I will take that apart and clean/check/lube as needed.

Question: I see Honda offers a "Steering Tube Seal" has anyone installed one? do they work? I suppose you need two, one for each side of the tube? How does it work? the steering rod coming out of the tube in the port side is bigger in diameter than the starboard side.

Also if changing the whole system any thoughts or experiences with the rotary type steering systems?
Better? Smoother?

Thanks"
