"I am stuggling with an ignition problem on a 1988 100 HP Merc SN ob329871. It is the model with 4 individual coils.
Problem:
No spark on # 2 cylinder.
I swapped input wire to coil from # 1 to 2 and turned over motor, no spark on # 1 now and have spark on # 2, in other words it does not appear to be anything with the coil, it follows the input to the coil. I have crosschecked all input lines to coil with DVOM and have equal resistance readings on all coil inputs. I have visually inspected all wiring I can see and see no issues. This motor under the cowling is like brand new, it has less than 300 hours on the motor so there are no visual signs of wear or anythinng disconnected. I have now reached my level of incompetence and would appreciate guidance on what to look at next.
