"In my previous posts I asked about the poor idle and even a complete stoppage...of my nearly new 5 HP 4-stroke Nissan outboard. All along Tohatsu Guru said FUEL AND DIRT IN THE CARB, even this quote "I'm a paranoid when it comes to fuel system problems
" Well he was right I had the carb professionally cleaned, cleaned the fuel tank and lines,and replaced the fuel pump. I even replaced the spark plug. With everything cleaned the motor runs like brand new again. Yesterday I had to run the motor 4 1/2 hours to get my sailboat back to the dock. It never missed a beat, ran perfectly. My confidence is back by 90% So THANK YOU TOHATSU GURU. GOOD JOB !!. Also mentioned on this forum that I place a second fuel filter on the fuel line from the gas tank and use a fuel stabilizer. (Bought Lucas Oil brand ), also mentioned was to keep fresh gas in the fuel tank."
