A compression tester, a plug wrench and a spanner to fit the tester.

Buy or hire a compression tester and follow the instructions. Basically it is a pressure gauge incorporating a one way valve that screws in in place of the spark plug. Cheap ones have a rubber cone and are just held in the hole where the plug has come from.

All plugs out, test one cyl at a time, crank until it reaches the highest reading. Ideally should be done on a warm engine.
