99 chrysler engine question

ok i have a 9.9 engine dont no

ok i have a 9.9 engine dont no the serial number or year but it feels like it should be running a lil faster. i cant think what it could be.

my buddy has a 8h.p yamaha and hes zooms right past me i feel like i should be able to keep up with him. am i right or wrong ? thanks

"Justin, what do you have it hangin' on. A 9.9 will push a 14 foot aluminum (200 lb boat) at maybe 15-20 mph, that's if it's loaded light.

Your prop may be a low pitch, your carb may be a little clogged, your compression could be shot and any number of 1000 other things.

If you have it on the back of an 800 pound fiberglass boat and your buddy's 8 is on the back of a 12 foot aluminum, I would expect him to blow your doors off....

Maybe it's working exactly as it should.

Test the compression as a starting point - should be near 100 at both cylinders - that's your starting point...."
