I heard something which was very interesting and want to find out if it is true.

I have two block heaters one on each engine. I have always been told to turn on about a day before the engines are started. Today someone had told me that they should be left on whenever the engines are not running because they dry up moisture that can cause corrosion. How where these designed to be used?

"My mechanic has never suggested that mine be on when the boat is not running. In fact, I don't use them at all until the weather turns cold. Partly because I don't think it necessary and partly because they draw alot of amps.

A friend does leave his on all of the time because he believes it is less stressful on the engines and he doesn't like any smoke at startup.

I would be interested to hear Marvin's or others take on this."
