79 150hp Merc. I need to prime

79 150hp Merc. I need to prime the carbs with a shot of fuel using a spray bottle. It's only when the motor is cold.
 
What is your starting procedur

What is your starting procedure in detail?? Is the choke system / enricher not working?.You are pushing the key in when cranking if equipped with such a control?

"It has a choke button. I hear it click. I hold the button crank the motor. No fire. I remove the carb cover, pump a couple squirts of fuel into the carbs, crank the motor, it fires. I do not know if the enricher is working."

There is not an enrichner on this motor. Removed?? Is this absolutely needed for proper function?
