Lower unit gear oil for 48 spl

Bought a Evinrude 48 spl modde

Bought a Evinrude 48 spl modde # E48ESLCUS. Putting a new impeller in and the oil in the lower unit looks and smells more like 10-40 motor oil then normal lower unit oil. Does this lower unit take something speical?

"If this is a new motor than i would look in the manual if you have one, if no manual get one. I can't see why it would be any different because it is still gears and they need a high weighted oil 80 weight or 90 weight otherwise you could blow out seals and other stuff you don't want to get into. However, i do not know for sure though. I can't imagine that it would."
