"I have a sea king 5 hp Model K505 5106A Type KTV
50505A. Hasn't been used in about 15 years. What trype of "grease" goes in the lower unit? What type of oil should I use and what mixture? Also, anyone know how old this motor is? I hope it works! TIA"

"It's either a 1977 or 1980 5.5 horse single cylinder built by Clinton for Wards.

For the lower unit you can use Marine 90W gear oil (or any gear oil rated GL-5).

Your gas/oil mix should be 40:1, use regular 2 cycle oil (such as used with lawnmowers), not Marine oil.

This motor is a blended air and water-cooled engine. There is an impeller that provides cooling for the exhaust (and to act as a muffler) but the motor itself is air-cooled, which is why you can't use normal TCW-3 Marine oil - which would burn up too quickly and leave the motor unprotected since it is designed for cooler running, water-cooled powerheads..."
