"Hello all, I have a Volvo Md11c sail drive engine. This has a V drive as well. I recently noticed that an oily slick is being produced when i run the engine. it appears to be in the raw water that is expelled. Do you have any idea where this might be coming from? Thanks"

It is most likely unburnt fuel due to a dodgy injector or poor combustion.

It could be engine lubricating oil if there was a dodgy head gasket, but then you would most likely find water in the oil as well.

If the sail drive/V drive is water cooled it could even be oil from there but again you'd find water in the oil."
