BF 130 misses under load

"I have a 1999 BF 130 on my Twin Vee cat. Powerhead was replaced by Honda in 2005 for a possible exhaust valve problem....so the half of the engine that combusts was new.....

Approximately 100 hrs since then, mostly in 2006.

All gas in the tank is new.

Water separater changed.

What happens is that the engine idles fine, even putts along at up to about 2000 rpm ok, but when I start pushing the throttle past 2500 rpm to get on plane I get an irregular "miss". Once the boat gets on plane and I'm cruising at 4000 rpm it still "misses", but less so.

I've had someone else drive the boat and felt the fuel ball and it is hard.

Anyone have any ideas? I spent most of last weekend putting around within a couple of miles of the ramp.....
