1969 70 hp no cd module

"picked up a 70 hp 3 cyl model

"picked up a 70 hp 3 cyl model# 7071
wire harness cut,I have manual.
there is no cd module just blue and white/black wire to coil.
blue lead is direct from harness, white/black
is from distibuter.
Just wondering if this is the norm.

I was hoping to try and start directly on the battery. do i need something else?

has two leads.
so, interesting that it isn't a diagram listed
in the back of manual.
fired right up no problem!"
