"I just picked up a '67 6hp eveinrude. What are the stock spark plugs, Pre-mix ratio, and where should the mixture adjustment knob on the front panel be st to start with. Also how is this mixture knob used during opperation?

50:1 mix----J4C plugs.-----Abo

50:1 mix----J4C plugs.-----About 1-1/2 turns out from gently seated to start with.It is the slow speed idle mix adjustment and should be adjusted ( at idle ) after the motor has started and warmed up to get the smoothest idle. It has a fixed high speed jet no adjustment there.Check to make sure you have spark that will jump a gap of 1/4" on both cylinders.These motors are known for cracked ignition coils.
 
50:1 OK. With what kind of oil

50:1 OK. With what kind of oil? I use Amsoil in most of my 2stroke stuff. It has 86c (champions)plugs in it. Champion book said L86c but only went back to '70.

J4C is the plug or whatever the new # is.Use TCW3 two stroke oil
