Generator or alternator and how to test them

"i have a 1966 jonhson motor whit and electric shift and i have a generator or an alternator on it but i dont know where the 2 wirers are going to charge my batterie or to feed my electrical shifting,its a prestolite ,made in usa and theres a num gjg 4008m 12v.and there 2 wirers how go pluging onder ,one its mark A and the oder one is an F,"

"It is a generator.The A wire is " armature " and F is the field.Is there a seperate electrical box that mounts inside the boat or is the regulator mounted below the carburetor.The regulator is also marked with A-----B-----F, can you find those???Excellent motors and easy to maintain."

I think you will find that B g

I think you will find that B goes to battery----F goes to F and A goes to A.Is there a place to bolt the regulator below the generator and are the wires from the generator about 12" long?
