"The last post spoke of a fuel collector for when the fuel pump diaphram goes bad.
I don't recall seeing anything on my motor that would capture a fuel ejection from a bad diaphram.
Is the 5.7 different than the 305?

There should be at least an overflow hose going from the pump up to the intake that should not have any fuel in it unless there is a problem. If you don't have one then it's possible someone put an automotive one? If so you want to think about changing it out for a marine.
