"hi; my first time on forum,problem i'm having is lost of power, good comp.,good spark,funny thing when I reversed ignition coils engine will not start reverse back starts no problem, but it looks like I have good spark on both plugs. I am thinking about carb. rebuild NEED HELP!!! Thanks Don"

"Your explanation of the coil switching is somewhat confusing. With the spark plugs removed, if you had spark on both cylinders that would jump a 7/16" gap, there would be no need to go any further with checking spark. Note that the 7/16" gap is important. Checking spark by using the spark plugs is a waste of time.

Remove the carburetor face plate. With the engine running and the problem taking place, stick two fingers into the carburetor throat, acting as a manual choke. If the engine picks up in rpms and smooths out somewhat, that would indicate a fouled carburetor."
