I have a 1968 Merc 500 4- cyl.

I have a 1968 Merc 500 4- cyl.pulled off lower end for seal change in bearing carrier.No gasket in between gear housing and drive shaft?Is it missing or should it be just some of that blue stuff gasket maker??? thanks Norm

not familiar with your particular model, but have a look at the parts drawing here and compare to your rig to see if it looks like anything is missing. If the diagram is not for the right engine model, you can go back to the menu on the same site and navigate through the selections to get the correct one based on the model and year, or serial # range:
