"ok is the scupper i need just the flap or the cup and ball? i forgot to put in the plug one trip, extremely bad idea and dumb to boot, trying to ease mine and everyone elses mind by having a more fool proof drain. everybody still giving me a hard time. thanks for the help"

"You're a member of a very large organization who at one time or other left the drain plug out. Most people never realize it until the trailer et al is parked and they come to the dock looking at flowing water and floating lifejackets.
One problem with the ball type is any dirt or leaves etc will not let the ball seal and you will have a leak, not like a huge hole but just keep the bilge area clean.

"My bilge drain is pretty hard to get to, to access the transom plug from inside. I have my drain plug on the outside with a stainless safety wire to the motor. That way, I can see it as I am removing the transom straps. Never had a problem in 20 years with it coming out."
