"Serial number 6563410 has been sitting around for 10+ years. changed impeller, changed LU oil, pulled carb and cleaned, and new plugs. Seems I only get spark when the plug is next to power head and arcs across. I really don't think gas is getting to the cylinders - plugs are dry. I'm thinking about the fuel pump kit but need to know more about the spark situation

"Shoot some carb cleaner in the wide opened carb and give it a yank. If that doesn't do it, something is drastically wrong (like the plug wires are reversed, the flywheel key is sheared, etc.)
