Force 120 throttle Linkage problems

I do not understand how it all

I do not understand how it all works. When I try to push the "throttle only" button in it hits a drive bracket.

When I just engage the "throttle and drive" the bracket moves out of the way it seems to work fine.

I've had a couple friends look at it and we are all stumped.
