Shear pin for ted williams

i can't find shear pins fo

i can't find shear pins for my 68 ted williams 7.5 hp i heard that some people make them from welding rod or nails the size is 4mmx3/4 but does anybody know if this works and is safe for my motor

"I've heard of people usin

"I've heard of people using brass welding rods as well. The right diameter cut to the right length would probably do the job. Whatever you do, don't use a standard nail. It is too hard, and won't shear like it's supposed to. If possible, I would take the original shear pin into an outboard motor dealer and try to match it up so you can have a shear pin made out of the proper material."
