"I recently bought a boat with a 88' 50hp Force (model C). Probably dumb on my part for buying a boat that doesn't run, but it was a great deal. The guy said the boat ran great for 20 years, no problems. Went to start it last time and there was no spark. Took it to the repair shop, they said the power pack needed replaced and possibly the stator.
My question is, does this sound like the problem could be from the power pack or the stator, and what other things should I test first. This is my first boat and don't have a whole lot of knowledge, so bare with me."
