LM360 rough idle with gas smell from exhaust

"Thought I would pose this to the group. Used the boat today for the first time since a busy ski weekend - about two tanks of gas. The first part of todays ride was good and ran well, but when decelerating and idling in to the dock it felt like it was missing at idle. Also, noticed a smell of unburnt gas from the exhaust. Any ideas? Fouled plugs?"
 
"Sounds like fouled plugs, but

"Sounds like fouled plugs, but why are they fouling? Running too rich? Easy to check the plugs. You have to warm the engine up to operating temp and shut the motor down quickly to preserve the condition of the plugs. Don't let it idle down.

The choke may not be pulling off or the fuel pump may be failing and sending excess gas through the tube and dumping it in the carb.

Or that second tank of gas was bad."
