"I believe I have a 1967 Johnson 6 HP, model CD-245.

Any idea where I can get the long recoil spring at a fair price? I was quoted today from the dealer over $50. It's just a doubled back spring.

Such a shame, as this motor runs like a champ."

"Thanks Joe, that would be awesome. I have made some modifications to the existing spring that may be a band aid for awhile. Need to put it all back together to see if it works.

It was getting dark out when I wrote it down and the S and 5 look too much alike.

"Mike.... I have one new spring left, and yes that list price figure is pretty high isn't it? Part number 311265 (50.75).

I also have the upright retainer, rod, tube, whatever one would call it that the spring slides onto which is part number 311257 ($36.96)
