"I have a 9.9 Tohatsu two-stroke. I think its a 98 model. A couple years ago I purchased the stator/throttle cam that allows the throttle to open to full, making the engine a 15hp I've been told. Since installing the cam, the engine has tremendous power but usually seems to be rich upon accelleration from idle to full throttle. At other times the engine seems to be lean and falls on its face upon throttle up. Then requires the choke to restart. I dont believe this is a jetting problem because it goes both ways. Any help would be great!
Also, what is the difference between a 15hp and an 18hp two stroke? Exhaust tube?"
