My buddy has a boat with 6 dif

My buddy has a boat with 6 different props. help

1995 240 thompson fisherman 24 ft. lenth
305 merc. stern drive
4500lbs. est.
What prop should he run? boat will not plane out at 3800rpms.

"Assuming your nominal hp is 225, and the drive ratio is 1.47; you shud make about 42 mph top speed at 4600 rpm.

The best prop should be a 16" pitch.
You could run a 17" or 18" for economy, or 15" if you want better hole shot performance.
If it won't plane out now, I would try a 15".
