"I have an 86 Force 125 20" shaft motor that runs great
Unfortunately, I have a 1986 Bayliner with a 25" transom
Someone suggested using a jackplate to lower the motor a few inches
Is this possible?"

"You might be better adding a pod, you'll need to research the heights etc as the motor sits higher with a pod."

"Thanks Andy,
I'm not familiar with a pod, in fact I have no idea what it is. I'm fairly oblivious to most boating terms

"I am having the same problem as i am trying to get a long shaft 35 running but i have a 20 short shaft older motor that goes perfect so i might be looking at makeing a pod type of thing .This can be as simple as,if you imagine a braket coming out from the boat, steel or aliminium home made if you are handy or have a friend make one,far enough out from the boat to clamp and low enough to do the job then bolt on .This should be stong and sturdy. you can purchase the real thing though, hope this helps, regards alan."
