Just bought a 1978 evinrude 85
Just bought a 1978 evinrude 85 hp and when i brought it home i put it in reverse then in neutral then in foward. We were then going to see inf the motor would turn over because it had been sitting for years and the controls are stuck in foward so it wont let me turn the motor over. you can shift through the gears by pulling the cable by hand just fine. what could be causeing this problem and is there any wires i can jump to bypass the saftey switch just to see if the motor will turn over thanks for the help
