"I have a 1986 Bayliner 3.0 liter I/O that when brought up to 1,200 RPM in neutral we get a rattle in the gear case. At an idle there is no rattle. Engage the prop and the rattle is almost gone, but can be detected. If anyone has any experience with this I would appreciate some help."

"Not unkommon as You have no load on the gears in neutral. However if the 'ratle' 'noise' changes when You swing the drive from side to side, check out the stern bracket bearing and the u-joint.When did ou last lubricate theese?"

"Thanks for the input, we had the outdrive off in August to replace o-rings and lubricated then. I'll check if the noise changes while turning the drive. Thanks again"
